CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL

Taipei's majestic Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is one of Taipei's most popular gathering places. The memorial hall's enormous marble edifice towers over landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and placid ponds. It contains a bronze statue of the late President, and the rooms underneath hold an exhibition of the President's life.Soldiers on guard at the Memorial are changed every hour, which is a favorite sight for tourists. The memorial hall is also home to the National Theater and Concert Hall.

Sanhsia Tsu Shih Temple

Tsu Shih Temple is one of the world's finest examples of current Chinese temple art. Built in 1770, the temple was in ruins by the end of World War II. The restoration project, which has taken over 40 years, is still incomplete. The new decorations include intricately carved stone and bronze columns, statues, lions, and bas reliefs of legendary scenes, as well as beautiful wood carvings. Sanhsia, Taipei County.

This photo was taken of some of the restoration of the wood carvings, Mr. Yu Tsui Cheng, Temple Secretary was kind enough to allow us to see the process.
